The countdown is on & Portugal is ready!
The 2009 Rip Curl Pro Search from October 19 to 30.
It's an exciting year for the Rip Curl Pro Search, because we're headed to another new and exciting location, plus have invited the ASP Women's World Tour to join the world's best male surfers for this year's event in Portugal!
The ASP Men's World Tour has been in Europe for a couple of weeks now, with Mick Fanning winning the Quik Pro in France and the Billabong Pro currently running in Spain.
The ASP Women's World Tour just finished up in Australia, with Brazilian Silvana Lima defeating current World #1 Steph Gilmore in an exciting finale. The World Tour race is heating up!
It won't be long until all eyes are focused on the coastal Portuguese town of Peniche, with a wave called Supertubos our home spot for the event.
The surfers are psyched to get there and are excited about what the "European Pipeline" will potentially serve up.
The event has had an amazing run of success over the past four years in Reunion Island, Mexico, Chile and Bali, so expectations are high... But fear not, the entire country of Portugal is ready for the circus to arrive and definitely ready to turn on the festivities!
